About the project
I started working on this service in the style of bit.ly when I kept running into a personal blocker where I couldn’t reliably and actively track my link clicks. Why would one want to do this? Both immediately considerable use cases involve work. For businesses, if you’ve ever used Mailchimp or any mail merging service with analytics, the post-report on how your campaign is doing can be invaluable.
What about if you’re not sending emails? An individual who might be doing a job search could benefit from knowing which organizations have opened an email, or at which points during the day their resume gets the most the views. Thus, having a URL that points to one’s resume and indicates when it’s accessed would be useful for the individual during the job search.
What would elevate this use case? A personal website to facilitate linking to these relevant documents and pages.
Challenges
As the intention is to implement this for a variety of users, there are several points to consider.
Firstly, the tool requires a robust technical infrastructure to handle the high volume of traffic that it may generate. This means that the system must be scalable and able to handle the user load without downtime or slow response times.
